Candidates-- superficial, mini-impressions

OK.
Obama-- articulate, intelligent, communicates well....extremely liberal. NOT pro-life!

Clinton-- does not seem genuine, sorrowful demeanor, unfortunately married to Bill, VERY liberal, NOT pro-life

Romney-- not sure I trust him. Only recently pro-life-- how many years does it take to figure out what's right and wrong. Good speaker but I find him a little irritating. I don't know why.

Huckabee-- seems like such a nice guy, has an appealing humility about him. Solidly pro-life. Fiscally liberal. (I'm not as concerned about the economy as I am about babies being killed.)

Guliani-- Can you trust a man who abandons the most important vow he has ever taken? I think he has strong leadership skills but lacks basic integrity.

Edwards-- oh please.

Thompson-- I like his views. Does he really want to be president? Couldn't he try a little harder?

Dare I ask for others' opinions?

Hi Rose!

We were leaning toward Mitt, as a God-fearing man deeply in love with his wife and family. Recently we were informed-by a politically active Catholic leader at CTK, that while Mitt has some fine attributes, he consistently failed as Governor of MA to support Catholic hospitals in their quest to NOT provide abortions(I think it had to do with funding... I will have to find out more!) He said that John McCain has consistently been pro-life and that he and others who were supporting former candidate Brownback are throwing their collective hat in McCain's ring.

Thompson is the guy. The pickens are slim from a Catholic standpoint. He really is our best choice.

By the way, would you mind visiting my blog and responding to my latest post? I noticed that you homeschooled your children and I would really
like your insight. Thanks!

Anon :-), I know this is not what people are saying but I really wonder if McCain is electable. He may be the most qualified guy for the job. I don't think he can win against Obama. Maybe against Hilary.
Leigh, he is so grim. I wish he'd smile a little more and show a little more passion. I'm considering voting for him

I was recently moved by a painting of Ron Paul, which showed him in surgical scrubs, holding a newborn baby wrapped in a flag. It's hard to imagine much better, pro-life-wise, than a pro-life obstetrician.

It's unfortunate that most people don't realize this, but Hillary Clinton is less liberal than Obama or Edwards. And as Catholics, it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that outlawing abortion will stop it. It won't! We are better to go with programs that will PREVENT teenage sex, pregnancy, and programs that will promote the idea of life as being sacred instead of the childish notion that outlawing abortion will stop it.
And isn't it better to support candidates that will support people in all aspects of life instead of Republicans who use us on the abortion issue but don't care about us in any other area of life??? God bless.

Anon, who are you talking about when you say "us?" You don't sound like a social conservative to me. You sound like a Hillary supporter out fishing for votes. We all know Hillary is less liberal than Obama or Edwards. And no one thinks outlawing abortion is going to stop it. Overturning Roe v Wade won't even make it illegal. It will be left up to the state legislatures to decide that. There is no doubt though that making abortion illegal will reduce abortions. There is also no doubt that the unborn are persons who deserve protection under the law.

Anon #2, most girls who are considering an abortion, think whether it is right and/or safe. Having it legal gives them an excuse for both and encourages it.
