
This afternoon my daughter Mary saw a beautiful, delectable pear way up in the tree, beyond her reach. She told me about it and I suggested she get the pole with the basket on it for picking fruit out of reach. She did, as you can see in this picture. But as I too have often experienced, she found that up close it did not look nearly so perfect. (Although it wasn't bad for a pear tree that is never sprayed.) Still, I think there may be a life lesson here....
