I'm still picking the bits of glass out of the inside of my car.
John drove with me to Irving, Texas (from Ann Arbor, Michigan) to pick up Jim and bring him home for the summer. We had Jim all packed up and ready to head home. Our last stop before hitting the highway was the Cistercian Abbey where Jim's choir was giving a concert. We were in there for a little over an hour. The concert was just beautiful. They sang gorgeous liturgical pieces and Gregorian chants. It was inspiring. Quite a contrast to the feelings we would have when we arrived back at the car.
They stole THREE laptop computers, a digital camera, a small suitcase, John's backpack full of his music, and a number of other items.
We were so stunned. I wasn't quite sure what to do next. After calling the police we called an auto glass place out of the yellow pages. Would you believe they arrived before the police? The police arrived a few minutes later. The window was repaired in about 20 minutes and we were on our way....minus several thousand dollars worth of cargo.
I had prayed we would have a safe trip. We did. What we lost was just stuff. Just stuff.
Lord have mercy on the people who did this.

Heartbreaking on so many levels~I'm so sorry this happened, Rose.
What a pain in the pitootie! I'm sorry it happened. What a world we're living in. But you are right. It is just stuff. Replaceable stuff.
Someday I hope the crooks figure that out too.
Rosemary, I'm sorry that happened to you and your boys. I would have been stunned (and angry), too. I hate that our state showed its ugly side to our visitors from out of state. I'm glad you made it back and forth safely, other than the theft of your items, though.
Prayers. I'm sorry.
That really stinks!!!! I'm so sorry, but I'm grateful for your good attitude. Maybe the perps needed the stuff more than you (even though that is little comfort). This kind of thing is more often seen now that folks are out of work and desperate?!? Just keep praying for God's mercy on us all.
Hugs and Aloha.
I know just where this happened! Your car was not the first So sorry. I promise Dallas isn't all bad!
Glad only things were taken and no one was harmed!
Kalona and Pearls, I must say that, in spite of this incident I really like your state. The people are so very friendly. (with the exception of the people who did this:-)
I just could not believe that someone would come on God's property (the abbey) and commit a crime. But then again cars have been broken into in my church parking lot here too. I guess thieves don't care.
