What a job! Yikes!

This is my family home.

My brother and sister and I have our picture taken by the front door together for the last time.

It's sold!!!!  This is a good thing.

This is the house next door.....

This house next door was built after a house similar to ours was torn down.  Still, while it's sad and seems like a waste, it is good that it has sold.

Grandkids enjoy Grandpa's backyard for one of the last times.

And this is the project facing me.  We need to empty the house completely  in the next two weeks.  I can't tell you how many hours I have already spent.  It's an enormous job.  But it will happen.

To everything there is a season.....A time to build up and a time to tear down.

I can see why you feel the way you do. It is lovely and I wish I could buy it...I'd love it...people are so silly to tear down when there is simply no reason, but you are good to go ahead and take it as you are. That is important for you and I'm sure your parents want you to do that. God bless, hon. Take it easy too.

I would move right in. Be thankful for the blessings of good family times in your home--and as you are taking those last things out, pray for the family moving in.
With my prayers for YOU--I know this is tough.

I remember when my grandma died (mom's mom) and the house sat empty for a while as the four siblings and their spouses decided what to do with it. Well, my mum thinks she got the worst treatment and the least of the goods, but then, you can't take any of it with you; and, relatives bad tact won't rob you of the love your parents gave you. So. Well, they sold the house to the eldest daughters eldest daughter, who flipped it upside down over time to make it what they wanted (but the outside looked the same - and still does as far as I know).

I like your parents house. I'm with Barb in that I'd move right in. I like the neighbours house, but you know what? It's BIG - I don't want a big house; a cute, tidy, welcoming home that you just know there's going to be something baked fresh with coffee brewing.

I meant to say that that cute, tidy house is your parents house. I think you "get" that, but I'm getting sleepy after such a long day.

BIG HUGS!!

Poor Rosemary! You definitely have my sympathies. We just did this in May with my in-law's house and I had been dreading it for years. They were fairly neat people on the surface, but when we started digging into the drawers, we found every paystub, every receipt, every Christmas card, everything that had come into the house for about 20 years - ugh! So not fun! But you'll get through it and you'll feel a great sense of accomplishment when it's finally done.

What a huge job! It really is a beautiful home! And what a nice back yard. So hard to see it go, but what amazing memories were grown in that home!
