Man's Best Friend

I think one of the sweetest things about dogs is their devotion to the people they love. A week or so ago, my daughter was sick to her stomach and sitting on a stool in front of the toilet trying to throw up. This little canine she adores came up behind her, and with front paws on the stool reached up and rested her head gently on my daughter's shoulder. It was so cute. One of those moments where you know the dog is just trying to convey the sentiment 'I know there's something wrong and I'm right here.' Don't those moments just endear you to your dog?

I hope your daughter is feeling very much better now!

My dog started throwing up on my bed last night so mine is a kind of reverse story!

BUT

My pooch always senses when my children are ill even if they are not vomitting or groaning in pain. She is only tiny so she curls up on them and my kids always say that she makes them feel better...of course, that is probably because they feel all warm and loved by their pet!

Fr. P and his wife have 2 Cavaliers, one is tan and white and is named Joe after Joseph Ratzinger, the other is black and white and named Ben, after Benedict XVI! Your dog looks a lot like Ben who I will see tomorrow at the presbytery.

Ben usually curls up under my desk in the office.

I'm a cat person, but I think that's so sweet!

And, on a total tacky side note, I hate it when I will feel better if I could get rid of the issue, but can't like your poor daughter. Hugs to her. I hope she feels better soon.

How sweet! Hope your DD is better. I am a dog person and have experienced many examples of a dog's love and concern for their humans. My cats...not so much :-)

Deb, yuk, on your bed...They are comforting, though, aren't they. (When they aren't throwing up on YOUR bed.) Lucky is 75% cavalier king charles and 25% Japanese chin. She has buggy eyes and a pretty short nose-- I think that's the Chin. Sweet dog. I love those cavalier ears.
How funny-- Joe and Ben. Cute :-)

Mimi, on the tacky side... I know.
what you mean.

Esther, she's fine now. Thanks. I know. We've had cats too and they're just pretty detached.

Now Mary (above) also has a cavalier king charles spaniel who is adorable.

Dogs are truly man's best friend. We have both dogs and cats....I'm the dog person, dh is the cat person. Dog's have always shown us the love a affection we either deserve at times or don't.

Thankfully, your daughter is well again.

Thaks, ebeth. I'm a dog person too. We've had cats but they're just not the same...

Doggie love is among the best kind found on the planet. One hopes there really is a "dog heaven." Cats on the other hand... ;-)

I hope your daughter is feeling better now. My kids want to have a dog and actually so do I. But one negative thing about having a dog when you live in a long distance relationship is that you can't take the dog with you when you travel and there are no kennels around here. So it's either a dog OR annual visits to daddy and granny and grandad. We're still not sure on what to chose.... But I agree, dogs are man's best friends.

God bless!

Awwwww.

I think its adorable. Every day my Mom takes my sister to school and the dogs come up to visit me. The big one walks up with the smaller one, checks the place out and leaves. The small one then sleeps on my bed until Mom comes back.

Catholicandgop, there's just nothing like a dog for loyalty, is there.

I completely agree with dogs being 'worried' about their people. My lab-husky mix will not leave my side when I have a migraine. She always has her head somewhere on me.

So sweet! Also, they show in a doggy way what 1 corinthians is all about.. they don't hold grudges, they love unconditionally..

Don't you just love them? They are the sweetest creatures.
