Do I really want the chocolate bar?

I cannot seem to get the pictures from Gethsemane Abbey that my daughter put on Photoshare onto my blog. She's not here so I can't ask her. But they're coming soon!

Several pictures were ones she took of me as we hiked up a mountain. She was behind me. Let's just say that these photos have provided considerable motivation for me to lose weight. I'm going to have to ask her what her motivation was for taking these shots.

NO I WILL NOT BE POSTING THEM. They're so bad I will not even stick them on my refrigerator as a reminder. They're too humiliating. LOL The image is still in my mind, however, and I'm hoping it will do the trick.

I will remember the picture. Then think, "Do I want to no longer look like this or do I want to eat this piece of chocolate?"

Someone left a comment here that I accidentally deleted while trying to approve it (comment moderation). I put comment moderation on because I wasn't getting emails for every comment left and I thought that would help. Now I've taken it off. Sorry.

Oh, it was me! What I said was that it's ok to eat the candy bar during Bright Week, when all fasting is off.

However, after that, I lost 50 pounds last year by learning to eat the number of calories that sustains the weight I want to be - which meant for me to work on portion size (why, yes, I'd like a cup of soup, literally) and to allow myself a treat each day - one small piece of candy; one serving of chips. And, pack and eat a good and healthy lunch every day, and drink lots of water.

Email me if you have any questions.

Mimi, bright week? This could be really dangerous. I'd hate to set a record for how much chocolate a person could eat in one week-- or how many pounds could be gained in one week... LOL Scary.

I like the idea of a treat every day but that means the treats are in the house and there is binge danger, if you know what I mean. I did lose a lot of weight about ten years ago and I haven't gained all of it back. I'd like to lose about 15. I'll keep you posted. Just letting people know this is what I want to do helps to hold me accountable.

Thanks for this encouragement. I found this blog through another of your readers, Rosemary. I am enjoying your blog very much.

I am a homeschooling mom of 3 and I have packed on extra pounds that I haven't managed to lose with 2 of my 3 pregnancies. I turn 40 this month (ugh.) and would like to have another baby or even 2 but with an extra 60 - or technically 80 pounds - of weight (I started my first pregnancy about 20 pounds overweight, and have managed to keep 30 with 2 of my pregnancies), I know it would be healthiest to lose.

Also, I just feel so ugly. My youngest is 20 months old, so if I had just buckled down from the beginning and lost a pound a week, I would have lost almost all I need to lose by now, but I struggle with eating for stress relief and comfort.

I am praying for your 15. Please pray for me too to find the motivation to do the right thing and lose quickly. I want to be open to life and I want to be around to raise the kids I have and my current weight is not so good for either of these goals.

I really like Suzanne Fowler's Light Weight program. Shrinking my stomach by eating a mugful (depending on where you are starting, it might need to be more) 4- 5 times a day really helps as does her spiritual program that goes along with it. It is easier to do when you are at home. And treats are good! Just smaller and after a full meal so you metabolize it better. Most of all it is wonderful to have support like on this blog!

I love it - being open to new life!
