Technophobia

Have I coined a new word?

Last night my 15 year old son told me the following quote was on the wall of one of his classes at school.

The greatest mistake a man can make is being afraid of making one. (Elbert Hubbard)

He said, "Mom, I think kids are better on computers for this reason. Adults are too afraid of making mistakes." I think he's probably right, at least for this adult.

I said, "Jim, look at my blog. Look how boring it looks." Then I took him to Suzanne's blog which is lovely, each post signed with a signature, and it even has sweet music playing, for heaven's sake. " Look how interesting this one is, Jim!" Then he said, "OK, Mom. Let's work on yours. Let's figure out how to make it better." And you know what? I was afraid to let him mess with my settings. I was afraid my whole blog would disappear.

OK. Case in point. I'm trying to work up my courage. If my blog suddenly disappears, you'll know what happened.

AWWW!!! Thank you for taking your son to my blog! Of course, since Alexa is so responsible for its decor and beauty, I can't take the applause, however, I LOVE IT!! It is so me. I found only a couple of things on it...the lady and the lighthouse...I think that's it!
Sooo, just know that if you or your son really need to ask Alexa first to help you, I KNOW she would..she loves it! Your blog is not that boring, byt the way...I love the color blends and the beautiful baby picture!

The baby picture was added with Jim's help just today. I actually went with the new blogger template thing and together we added the picture. I do love your blog though. I'ts very lovely. My husband said you must live near the ocean and that explains how well it's designed. :-)

I read this post earlier and then I got to wondering if my son could help me with the problems I was having on my blog and he did! So thanks Rosemary for the idea.

Suzanne, you have a beautiful blog!

Rosemary, here's a BIG tip. Make a back up. Go in to TEMPLATE on your blog. Copy and paste everything to a word document on your computer. If you have a back up you need have no fear that things will go wrong. Always save a copy to your hardrive.

If things go wrong, just delete the new template in it's entirity and repaste the old template in and save the changes.

Hope this gives you the confidence to enable your son to work with your blog. I look forwartd to seeing what he comes up with :-)

Oh, Rosemary, that is so funny!
Tell your husband we are not even close! THAT is why I asked Alexa to help me with this template. I love the seashore, sunsets, walking in the sand...lighthouses, and we have only been to the Atlantic coast once and the Florida Gulf Coast twice...I visited the Pacific coast years ago for one brief shining moment!
It is beautiful and although alot of power and might sometimes...it sorta calls me.
The lady looking out and pondering was one of the most awesome pieces of art I'd ever seen. So, nope..I'm in the heart of the country...Indiana! I was born and raised in Memphis, TN and moved here in 1979. ;)

I was going to post that I am not a fan of music on Web pages UNTIL I visited Suzanne's lovely site. Bruddah Iz's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" is one of my favorites! He was such a gentle giant -- died much too young.

Anyway, Rose, congratulate Jim on helping his mom so selflessly! I really, really, really need to take my blog out of retirement and put something NEW on it! The link to my blog is below -- I just realized it's been nearly two years since I last posted! I do have a half-composed post that's been in mothballs -- I should finish it and just get it up there.

Ooops -- I just realized the the links are ABOVE the post, not below!

Tell Ruthann "Thank you!" I am glad she saw my template and heard one of the best songs in the world ever by one big sweetheart!
Yes, he left too soon, but I feel his spirit so strongly everytime I hear the song on my blog...kudos to Alexa AGAIN! ;)

Rosemary,

Your blog looks good, but I am the same way you are. When I see other blogs I think I should improve mine as I am bored with its appearance, but it's time consuming and I am busy with so many activities as well as technologically challenged.

You have been tagged for the Marriage Meme. For details, go here http://catholicfire.blogspot.com/2007/03/marriage-meme.html .

Enjoy! :-)

Don't be afraid! Just copy and paste the code in a document first... that way, if it gets messed up, you can put it back.

Sometimes simple is better, by the way... Too much, and people begin to get overwhelmed... you can do a lot just by changing the colors!

:)
